Headstamp Publishing launches British bullpup rifles book!

Headstamp Publishing, publishers of the wildly successful Chassepot to FAMAS: French Military Rifles, 1866–2016, have today launched a Kickstarter pre-order campaign for their second book. This book, titled Thorneycroft to SA80: British Bullpup Firearms, 1901–2020, was written by ARES Technical Specialist Jonathan Ferguson and charts the British love affair with the ‘flipped’ bullpup rifle and machine gun—weapons with their firing mechanism positioned behind the trigger—from its invention in the UK in the 1860s and the first faltering military steps in the Edwardian period, through the controversy of the NATO rifle trials, to the troubled history of the current SA80 family.

With Jonathan’s unparalleled access to archives and firearms collections throughout the UK and the world, this will be the most comprehensive book on the subject to date. The book was edited by ARES Director N.R. Jenzen-Jones, as well as featuring contributions and photography from several other ARES staff and friends of the company.

We hope you will consider giving Jonathan, and Headstamp, your support. You can pre-order the book by clicking here.
